Situated in Minchinhampton a few minutes walk from the town centre, shops, country Inns restaurants library and the common. Minchinhampton itself is a beautiful, small, old Cotswold Town overlooking the Stroud valley and on the fringe of the common which is 600 acres of National Trust land. It is a wide, windswept expanse of grassland, fringed with villages and where cows and horses run free. The scenery is spectacular and the geography provides ideal conditions for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, golf, horse riding, gliding etc.The luxurious facilities offered by Hayleaze are a true compliment to the outstanding beauty of the area in which this traditional bed and breakfast is situated.

Woodchester Park and Mansion
2 miles to the north west.
A beautiful secluded valley near Stroud containing the remains of an 18th and 19th-century landscape park, a chain of five lakes, fringed by woodland pastures and unfinished Victorian mansion (which is not NT). For details of the Mansion contact 01453 750455.

Westonbirt Arboretum
The Arboretum is a wonderful world of trees and shrubs.
There are 18,000 of them from all over the world, producing 600 acres of beautifully landscaped countryside. This makes Westonbirt one of the finest tree collections in the world today. However it is the combination of wild flowers, fungi, birds and animals as well as the trees themselves that make Westonbirt such a special place to so many people. This rich diversity of plant and animal life makes Westonbirt truly a place to visit at every season of the year.

Cirencester and the Corinium Museum
10 minutes drive to the east
Cirencester, known as the "Capital Of The Cotswolds", is an historic Roman town in the heart of the Cotswolds with attractions from a Roman Amphitheatre to the nearby Roman Villa. The Corinium Museum in an important source of information on the local history.

City of Bath
Not more than 30 minutes drive South
Bath presents some of the finest architectural sights in Europe, such as the Roman Baths & Pump Room, the Royal Crescent, Pulteney Bridge and the Circus.

The surrounding seven hills, the River Avon running through the heart of the City and the towers of Bath Abbey combine to create a wonderful first impression. Moreover, Bath takes a real pride in sharing its secrets and unique heritage, which can be explored in a variety of 40 or so museums, galleries, gardens and attractions. Yet Bath is very much alive and offers an intriguing mix of theatre, festivals, good restaurants, sporting excellence and quality shopping.

Minchinhampton Old Golf Course
Just out the door and turn left.
The Old Course was originally established in 1889 and was one of the earliest clubs to be formed in the West of England. Golf has been enjoyed on the common from that date onwards and despite two World Wars The Club is set on Minchinhampton Common, an unspoiled area of outstanding natural beauty, close to the picturesque village of Amberley and the small market town of Minchinhampton.
The area is steeped in history - local legend suggests that the adjacent Old Lodge Inn was used as a hunting lodge by King Henry VIII.

Just out the door and turn right. Head on for 5 mins and your there. Home of the Minchinhampton Golf festival this 36 hole golf course offers the perfect round of golf as well as stimulating views.

The Cotswold Way
The Cotswold Way was designated a local distance footpath in 1970 and a National Trail in 1998. It runs along the western escarpment, starting close to Shakespeare's Stratford and finishing in Bath.

Explore the quiet towpath of the Stroudwater/Thames and Severn Canal. Over 25 years of tireless work by the Cotswold Canal Trust has given fresh life to this historic stretch of water.

Prinknash Bird and deer Park near Painswick
Situated on the edge of Prinknash Abbey Estate. A variety of colourful birds, baby deer and pygmy goats enjoy the wide park while within the Park's Golden Wood, the haunted 'Monks Fish Pond' is teeming with large trout which visitors can feed.

Slimbridge wildfowl trust
Sir Peter Scott founded the Wildfowl & Wetlands (WWT) in 1946, at Slimbridge, now a world-renowned reserve for waterfowl, set in 120 acres. New visitors centre was opened in February. It is the largest Millennium project in Gloucestershire. Inside there is a new Cheng - Kim Loke Wildlife Art Gallery, fabulous Hanson Discovery Centre where you can find out all about wetlands and how we depend on them, a Conservation area where practical conservation advice will be on hand. New waterside restaurant and café. Perhaps the highlight of the building is the Observation Tower, providing panoramic views of the Severn.

The Five Valleys surrounding Minchinhampton are renown for there public houses and restaurants, many of them having been awarded some of the highest signs of recognition in there industry.

The Weighbridge Inn
Not more than 10 minutes drive from Hayleaze. Serves Wadworth's beers, the 6X is particularly recommended and you cannot possibly visit Minchinhampton without sampling a '2 in 1 pie'. Unique to the Weighbridge, this is a huge pie filled 50:50 with Steak and Mushroom and Cauliflower Cheese, topped off with a gigantic pastry crust, one of these and a few pints of 6X will set you up nicely.

Local, produce is very much a focal point within the Amberley. They strive, where possible, to purchase both locally and from the local farmers and weekly visit the towns farmers markets. An extensive wine list from around the world is available to accompany the many menus we have to offer. Including a carbernet merlot and sauvignon blanc named after the village of Amberley.

The Ragged Cot

Not more than 2 minutes drive from Hayleaze and no more than 5 minutes walk.
The Ragged Cot Inn is one of that rare breed – the genuinely free Free House. It remains a privately owned Inn, run under the supervision of the owners. Dating in part from the 17th Century, it enjoys all modern facilities while retaining the charm of a traditional Cotswold Inn.
